Day 2: The Moment The Shipping Began
“You wouldn’t happen to know who it is, would you?” I asked, once I had regained my lost composure. James just shrugged, obviously disliking the topic. It was then I remembered that, even through all his troublemaking faults, James had also been one of the main candidates for Head Boy, and I instantly felt horrid for bringing it up.
“I do know one thing though,” he’d said rather quietly. “Whoever he is, he sure is one lucky bloke,”
“Why’s that?” I asked stupidly. It was obvious James had wanted to be Head Boy and was mourning the loss of the position.
At least, I thought he was.
“Well,” he answered very softly, taking a step closer to me. “He gets to work with you, doesn’t he?”

Day 1: Favorite Book Moment
“And,” said Harry doggedly, determined to say everything that was on his mind now he was here, “he kept looking over at the girls by the lake, hoping they were watching him!”
“Oh well, he always made a fool of himself whenever Lily was around,” said Sirius, shrugging. “He couldn’t stop himself showing off whenever he got near her.”
“How come she married him?” Harry asked miserably, “She hated him!”
“Nah, she didn’t,” said Sirius.
“She started going out with him in seventh year,” said Lupin.
“Once James had deflated his head a bit,” said Sirius.
“And stopped hexing people for the fun of it,” said Lupin.

“So let me get this straight. You, James Potter, want me, Lily Evans, to help with a prank?”
“Sounds about right” James replied with a grin.
“And why would I even consider helping you?”
“Because it’ll be fun” he countered, “You’re the one who said you needed to live a little-“
“I’ll think you’ll find that was you-“
“-and what better way than joining in on one of the infamous Marauder’s pranks?”
She rolled her eyes and refused to answer.
“Fireworks Evans, it’ll be the best yet, trust me.”
“Trust you?” Lily replied, incredulous, “You’re the last person I’d trust thank you.”
“Did you not hear me Lils? Fireworks” he repeated himself with a look of childish wonder and excitement which she had to admit made him look quite adorable.
Lily shook her head slightly to get rid of that line of thought, “am I supposed to be impressed?”
He nodded, “Oh you will be.”
She frowned, eyebrows furrowed, “we are not having this conversation.”
“Tell me Lils” James began, trying a different tactic as he took a step towards her, “when was the last time you broke school rules? Even the little, insignificant ones?”
Lily paused in thought. She frowned as she came up blank, was she really that much of a goody two-shoes? She put her hands on her hips, “Well, I’m a prefect, unless you’d forgotten.”
“You don’t let me forget” James murmured in reply.
Lily ignored his remark, “It’s hardly setting an example if I run around breaking the rules I’m supposed to enforce now, is it?”
He sighed, “Come on Evans, don’t be a bore.”
“I am not boring Potter!”
“Then prove it” he smirked. He’d got her right where he wanted her; she couldn’t possibly back down now, she was too stubborn.
“Fine” she replied through gritted teeth, “but I swear if I get caught” she lifted her wand, pointing it between his eyes, “don’t think I won’t think twice about taking you down with me.”
He laughed and beamed at her in triumph, “I would expect nothing less.”
“I’ll have you know I’m a model son,” said James, faux indignant.
“So sneaking out to a protest and getting kind-of arrested isn’t the norm?”
“It’s my mates: you’re a bad influence on me.”
Lily actually laughed at that. “Oh, I’m a bad influence, am I?”
“Rubbish,” said James solemnly. “Most of the trouble I got into when I was younger was on your behalf.”
“Loads of good it did you.”
“There was method to my madness… it just wasn’t the greatest method.”
“You might have tried just being nice,” said Lily, blushing a little—she hoped James didn’t notice. If he did, he didn’t comment.
“Ah, but where’s the fun in that?”
The fun, indeed. Somewhat melodramatically, perhaps, Lily reflected that without the fun of it, there was an excellent chance that James would not have chased her at all. And, certainly, when the fun was sufficiently depleted, he’d found the girl who more or less held the patent on fun. She’d been quiet for several seconds, and it was uncomfortable again. She panicked slightly at this realization (was she being horribly obvious?), which only kept her quiet longer, until she could think of nothing else to say except: “You dropped a pumpkin.”
James caught the unsubtle change of subject. “Yeah, I reckon I should clean that up.” He rose to do so, and Lily took the little reprieve of attention to collect herself.
Flirting.
She’d been flirting with him.
Bloody Shelley Boat.
